1. The Reference Service
Los Angeles Residents Directory is a private reference that describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections concerning people who live or once lived in Los Angeles, California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with a records office, court, or custodian.
2. Lawful Use Rules
Use the reference only in a lawful way. Neither it nor information reached through it may be used to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
- Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
- Commit identity theft or fraud
- Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant matters, or insurance
- Scrape, copy, or republish the text at scale
- Disrupt the operation or security of the service
3. No Consumer Reports
Los Angeles Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.). Neither the text here nor a result returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report, and neither may be used to judge eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose governed by the FCRA.
4. External Resources
Government portals and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, operate under separate terms and privacy rules. Federal case access uses PACER and the Central District of California court-records guidance. The Los Angeles case-number follow-up is the LASC case summary. The operators are not responsible for an outside resource’s content, availability, price, or data handling.
5. No Warranty
The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available,” without warranties. Accuracy, completeness, currency, portal uptime, and search results are not guaranteed.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the reference or a linked resource, including an action taken from a record located through it.
7. Your Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from misuse of the reference or breach of these terms.
8. Copyright and Linking
Original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a brief, attributed excerpt is allowed; republishing a full page or systematic copying is not.
9. Revisions
A revised version may be posted here. Continued use after it appears means the revised terms are accepted.
10. Access Restrictions
Access may be blocked or limited, without notice, when a user violates these terms or abuses the service.
11. Governing Law
California law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Public-record access references use the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000–7931.000, where that statute applies to a custodian’s records.
12. Severability
If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
13. Questions
Questions about the terms may be sent through the Contact page.
